Revenants

The year is 2023. I am looking for the negative of an image that I made around 2013. As I looked through my rather disorganized negatives, I was surprised to see images that intrigued me but that I hadn’t printed when they were originally made. I decided to search thoroughly through these negatives to see what else I had overlooked in 2013. It became an archeological dig of sorts. The next step was to make high resolution scans of these negatives. I was delighted to see these scans and more excited to print them using the tools available in 2023.

These images are a collection of forgotten memories and dreams. Think of a house with dark rooms where each of these rooms contains feelings, urges, and thoughts outside the conscious mind. Briefly illuminated, these rooms quickly return to darkness. This glimpse into the unconscious is what unifies these unearthed images.
